J.Crew Launches First Fragrances

J.Crew launched its first fragrances, No. 31 and No. 57. The fashion & lifestyle brand collaborated with perfumer Arquiste to develop the scents.

Arquiste is led by Carlos Huber, who founded the company in 2011, WWD reported, and is known for developing fragrances based upon a specific time and place.

So what was the inspiration for these scents – and the names?

A gallery show by Peggy Guggenheim called “Exhibition by 31 Women,” which was the first all-female modern art exhibition in the U.S. at ten Guggenheim in 1943. The juice was inspired by the cocktails and scents of the time.

The fragrances are housed in simple but elegant square bottles.
